10 animated shorts advance in 2016 Oscar® race

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced the ten animated shorts (out of sixty qualifiers) that will go forward for consideration of an 88th Academy Awards® nomination. The films span a number of international production territories including the United States, England, Australia, Chile, France, Russia as well as two National Film Board of Canada projects.

Carface (Autos Portraits) (Dir. Claude Cloutier, National Film Board of Canada)

If I Was God… (Dir. Cordell Barker, National Film Board of Canada)

Love in the Time of March Madness (Dir. Melissa Johnson/Robertino Zambrano, High Hip Productions/KAPWA Studioworks)

The other five films that have advanced are:

Bear Story (Historia De Un Oso) (Dir. Gabriel Osorio, Punkrobot Animation Studio)

My Home (Chez Moi) (Dir. Phuong Mai Nguyen, Papy3D Productions)

An Object at Rest (Dir. Seth Boyden, California Institute of the Arts)

Sanjay’s Super Team (Dir. Sanjay Patel, Pixar Animation Studios)

We Can’t Live without Cosmos (Dir. Konstantin Bronzit, director, Melnitsa Animation Studio)

From this current shortlist five nominees will be selected by Academy members in December. The nominations will be announced live on January 14th 2016, at 5:30 a.m. Pacific time. The 88th Oscars® will be held on February 28th, 2016.
