Aardman Digital announces the launch of an exciting new website for shaabiat Al Cartoon, the UAE’s leading animated sitcom!

The animated series, launched in 2006 and screened nightly on youth channel Sama Dubai, is based around the lives and traditions of a group of Middle Eastern families and individuals living in Dubai. The twenty-four unique character’s stories are told in a humorous and compelling way resulting in the series attracting an increasing loyal fan-following across the Middle East.

The bespoke website has been created to provide a central hub where the growing shaabiat Al Cartoon fan-base can congregate, allowing Fanar Production to establish a relationship with their audience and communicate with their fans.  The website showcases the stars of the show, with pictures and information about each character and offers visitor’s exclusive content such as downloads, newsletters and competitions.  Fans that become part of the online community will be treated to exciting new content on a regular basis and can look forward to the release of a fun, engaging game later in the year.  The site will also provide a focal point for social media around the brand, profiling the latest tweets from the shaabiat Al Cartoon Twitter account and sharing their latest Facebook updates, friends and number of likes.

The project has provided a fresh challenge for the Aardman Digital team as they produce their first Middle-Eastern website, creating both English and Arabic versions of the site.  Karen Heldoorn, Head of Client Services at Aardman Digital says, “Working with Fanar Productions on the shaabiat al Cartoon project has been a fantastic opportunity for Aardman Digital to break through into a brand new market.  Creating a website in a different language has come with its own technical challenges and learnings – which is something we as a team, are constantly striving for.  The site will be a great way for fans to interact with the show on-the-go and we’re confident it will be a huge success with the existing shaabia following.”

“Seeing the website come to live was definitely an exciting moment to us, we have worked for months side by side with Aardman Digital to produce shaabia fans’ hub. The outcome is very satisfying to us and we hope fans do like it and engage with it as we created this for them.” Adds Haidar Mohammad, Creator of shaabiat Al Cartoon and the General Manager at Fanar Productions.
