Futuranima: The Place for Pros to meet up at Anima

ANIMA, the Brussels International Animation Film Festival (1>10 March) is also a place to meet up for Belgian and international animation creatives at FUTURANIMA, the Festival’s professional days, taking place this year from Monday 4th to Saturday 9th March.

Futuranima will host many conferences on topics related to new trends and latest technological developments in animation.

Futuranima is also very happy to welcome presentations of works in progress from Jérémy Clapin (I Lost my Body) and Anca Damian (The Fantastic Voyage of Marona), a conference about virtual reality (Inside Virtual Reality with Atlas V) and the production of “immersive narrative content”, or a conversation focused on stop motion between Kim Keukeleire (Isle of Dogs, by Wes Anderson) and Emma de Swaef (This Magnificent Cake!).
And in the framework of the Focus on France we will welcome the prestigious film school MoPA in Arles (formerly SUPINFOCOM Arles).

FUTURANIMA will also host masterclasses with animation greats:

Eric Daniels, Disney “Mixing Art and Tech” 
Eric Daniels has worked on many Disney features (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Princess and the Frog, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6, Frozen…) and won a technical Oscar for his work on Tarzan in 2002.

Louis Clichy, director of Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion 
Louis Clichy will talk about the particularities of being a film director who, depending on the nature of the projects, needs to have a set of very different skills.

Mark Burton, Aardman “Writing for Animation: the Ins and Outs”
Mark Burton is an animation screenwriter, working predominantly with Aardman. He has already penned the scripts for Chicken RunShaun the Sheep and the upcoming Farmageddon, as well as Madagascar(DreamWorks).

Friday 8th March will be set aside for a very unique live performance: the Animated Battle: “Food Glorious Food”.

And let’s not forget the INDUSTRY DAY and the STUDENT DAY. The Industry Day, on Monday 4 March, is a day reserved for professionals from the sector. During the Student Day, on Tuesday 5 March, students will receive special attention from the Belgian film schools, including information sessions about jobs in animation.
