Excellent Six Figure Package (Base to £200K)

Our company Aardman has recently become employee owned, with the founders transferring the majority of their shares to an Employee Trust. This transition is a natural evolution that allows the company founders, Peter Lord and David Sproxton, to step-back from majority ownership and from day to day leadership of the studio. This transition allows us to continue as a sustainable, successful, independent organisation, creatively and commercially, now in the hands of those who built it – its people. We now seek to appoint a Managing Director to succeed David Sproxton.

Ethical, engaging and egalitarian, being commercially strong, but creatively empathetic, the candidate will be a first among equals leader who can monetise the imaginative skills of Aardman without compromising the long legacy. Respectful of the Aardman culture, the candidate will be able to navigate market trends within the fast-moving media landscape. Pedigree is a given, great leadership a necessity and enterprise is key. Commitment to independence in Bristol is core.

We seek balance; a combination of prudence, entrepreneurial flare and inspiration of your own to add to our mix. We also seek the currency, credibility and visibility to be an external face in the market alongside being an internal catalyst in the studio, driving creativity, commerciality and positive change. A leader who will win hearts and minds to secure and sustain the Aardman story (and its storytelling) now and for generations to come.
