Animist Tallinn is Waiting for Your New Films!

Animist Tallinn have opened the call for entries to their second festival edition. You are welcome to submit your new animated shorts to the international competition programmes. Films can be submitted until April 30th, 2022.

The festival is holding an international competition in two categories – Best Animated Short and Best Student Animated Short. The prize for the Best Animated Short of 3,000 euros is presented by the City of Tallinn, the prize fund for the Best Student Animated Short is 500 euros and is presented by the Estonian Academy of Arts Department of Animation. The competition programs will feature short animations completed after January 1, 2020. The programs will be announced in June.

 

The 2nd Animist Tallinn will take place in Tallinn from August 17 – 20, 2022. The aim of the festival is to introduce the best of contemporary short animation, raise and diversify the awareness of arthouse animation, introduce new Estonian animation productions and animation as a genre to a wider audience. The center of the festival in 2022 is Cinema Sõprus. The festival continues to work closely with the Estonian Academy of Arts.

In 2022, the theme of the festival is Storytellers. The program introduces the traditions of storytelling in different parts of the world and explores their connection with film and animation. The program is curated by Priit Tender, the festival’s artistic director, and Carlo Cubero, associate professor of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Tallinn University.

The festival is supported by Estonian Film Institute, Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the City of Tallinn.
