Distribution partner secured for ‘Hyperlight – Battle of the Guardians’
A distribution agreement with Banijay Kids & Family has been signed for Hyperlight – Battle of the Guardians, an animated action-comedy superhero series for pre-teens.

Commissioned by BBC and pre-sold to Super RTL in Germany, the show is set to be delivered at the end of 2027. Award-winning animation production studio, A Productions, based in Bristol, UK, is the lead producer of Hyperlight – Battle of the Guardians with Singapore-based Scrawl Animation appointed as production partner.
Banijay Kids & Family, part of the media and entertainment group Banijay Entertainment, has been secured as distribution partner. Production is underway.
BBC Children’s and Education announced the show today in its new slate of commissions for CBBC.
Packed with action, humour and high-stakes adventure, Hyperlight – Battle of the Guardians takes viewers into the Network, a parallel digital world hidden within the hyper-connected city of New Avalon. When teenager Chrissie develops extraordinary new powers, she and Bella are drawn into a battle against hackers, viruses and a sinister entity threatening the city.
From self-driving cars to hoverboards, from robotic pets to nano-bots, Hyperlight – Battle of the Guardians (26×22’) will invite viewers into a futuristic, fast-paced world where anything is possible.
Hyperlight – Battle of the Guardians follows the adventures of two teenage girls, superhero Chrissie and hacker genius Bella, as they navigate the ups and downs of high school life alongside the challenges of a reimagined digital future.
Expect an action-packed rollercoaster ride with plenty of relatable humour threaded throughout. As the world grapples with the power of technological advancement, the show will throw under the spotlight themes that will resonate with the whole family.

Independently-owned A Productions, which recently marked 40 years in business, makes children’s content for TV and film for audiences in the UK and around the world.
The studio has worked on many notable productions including My Friend Maisy for Sky Kids, which is co-produced by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions and Trustbridge Entertainment, with animation created by A Productions and Karrot, as well as JoJo and Gran Gran, produced by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions in association with A Productions for CBeebies.
Production is also currently underway on The Underglow, which is produced for the BBC by Gigglebug and A Productions in partnership with YLE. Created by Sam Morrison and Tanya Scott, The Underglow is one of three projects commissioned through the BBC’s inaugural Ignite animation scheme.
A Productions was this year named one of Broadcast’s Best Places to Work in TV 2026, marking the fourth time it has been awarded the accolade.
