Due to the motto "Animation connects!”, the ITFS invites you to Stuttgart from April 25 to 30, 2023, to celebrate the 30th edition together: From "Best of Programmes" to the country focus on South Africa and the latest topics such as "AI - Artificial Intelligence" – in addition to the numerous competition films, the supporting programme offers multifaceted and exciting insights for professionals and the interested public.
Top-class studio presentations by Triggerfish Animation Studios (South Africa) or Those Eyes (Denmark) and JOB, JORIS & MARIEKE (Netherlands). In the impressive retrospectives, the festival will present a film programme by Izabela Plucińska (Germany, Poland) and by outstanding young talent Sander Joon (Estonia). Gil Alkabetz, a great filmmaker and loyal ally of the ITFS, will be honoured with a Tribute.

Winning the award for Animated Feature was the much celebrated Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio. This is only the second time a stop motion feature has won the award in it’s history and is an historic won for Del Toro personally, who becomes the first person to win for Best Director, Best Picture and Animated Feature. Scooping the award for Animated Short was The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse based on the best selling book by Charlie Mackesy, directed by Peter Baynton and Mackesy. The award was collected by Mackesy and Producer Matthew Freud. This was the first win for a British Director in this category since Suzie Templeman won for Peter and the Wolf in 2007. We caught up with Charlie Mackesy (author/co-director), Peter Baynton (co-director) and Cara Speller (producer).
