What is the film about?

The music video for Lunavox’s “What’s Locked Behind That Door?” unfolds as a haunting visual journey, inspired by the eerie post-rock soundscape and dialogue from the 1962 cult classic The Brain That Wouldn’t Die. It centers on a series of surreal, AI-generated doors that symbolize the duality of hope and despair. These doors, set against evocative landscapes, open and close to reveal fleeting moments of joy and tension, blending seamlessly with archival footage. Using a dynamic interplay of black-and-white and color sequences, the video captures raw emotion and moments of revelation, crafted through advanced techniques like match-moving and rotoscoping in Adobe After Effects and Blender. The narrative culminates in a profound exploration of the unknown, mirroring the song’s shadowy yet mysterious essence.

What influenced it?

Panos Cosmatos, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, MST3K

A little background information...

I created the music video for Lunavox’s “What’s Locked Behind That Door?” to push my creative boundaries as a motion graphics artist, experimenting with AI to craft a visually compelling narrative that earned a 2025 Global Music Award.

How was the film made?

Using Flux, an AI tool, I generated surreal door visuals from text prompts to reflect the song’s mood. These were integrated with archival footage using Adobe After Effects and Blender through techniques like match-moving, rotoscoping, and motion tracking. I blended black-and-white and color sequences to evoke emotion and highlight narrative shifts, combining AI innovation with traditional animation for a cohesive visual story.
