Le Monde
What is the film about?
In a tropical greenhouse, two children meet. A simple gesture, a blooming flower… and an invisible bond begins to form between them.
Le Monde is a poetic tale about childhood, loneliness, and the connections that endure despite distance and the passing of years. Based on an idea by K Sensei and inspired by the music video for the song “Le Monde”, written and performed by K Sensei himself, alongside Malika Whitaker.
What influenced it?
Japanese animation (Sailor Moon, Nadia, Evangelion, City Hunter, … ) and french drawers like Moebius
“Le Monde” draws from both intimate and symbolic influences.
On one hand, it is inspired by mythological and universal imagery — particularly the figure of Atlas carrying the world — as a way to express emotional weight and solitude.
On the other, it is deeply rooted in personal memory, childhood, and human connection, with a sensibility close to poetic storytelling and visual fables.
Visually, the use of traditional 2D animation and the presence of natural elements (earth, air, fire, water) extend a language already central to K Sensei’s work, blending nature, cosmos, and introspection.
The influence of children’s literature and initiatory tales is also key: a simple narrative form that carries deeper, universal themes.
A little background information...
“Le Monde” was born from a reflection on relationships that evolve over time — bonds that don’t necessarily break, but slowly drift apart while still existing in another form.
As the closing piece of the EP De cendres et de larmes, the project acts as both an emotional and artistic synthesis. It explores loneliness, emotional memory, and the lasting impact of meaningful encounters.
The intention was to create a complete work that could tell this story across multiple formats: music, animation, and a book. The film is therefore not just an illustration of the song, but an extension of its universe — and a gateway into a broader narrative world.
How was the film made?
The film is a 2D animated music video directed by Malika Whitaker, based on an original universe created by K Sensei. Malika worked on it for 1 year and used traditional 2D animation and rotoscope.
K Sensei developed the screenplay, storyboard, and artistic direction, shaping the narrative structure and visual symbolism: the dual timeline (childhood and cosmic space), the key figures (Atlas, the Star, the blue rose), and the emotional arc of the story.
Malika Whitaker then brought this world to life through traditional 2D animation, while also handling direction and post-production. Her work gives movement, sensitivity, and depth to the characters, translating emotions and transformations into visual form.
The process was built on a close artistic collaboration, where music, storytelling, and visuals were conceived together to create a cohesive and immersive experience. The animation becomes a direct extension of the song, making the invisible visible — memories, emotional bonds, and inner transformations.
