The CEE Animation Workshop is entering its fifth edition with the announcement of selected participants and their animated projects in development. The call for applications was once again open to international applicants, while still maintaining focus on the CEE region and low-production capacity countries. Among 30 applications from 23 countries, the organizers have selected 12 projects with 32 participants from 16 countries who will attend the 2023 edition of the CEE Animation Workshop.

The selection committee, members of the pedagogical and management team of the CEE Animation Workshop have carefully selected thirty-two participants who will attend the 2023 edition, split between twelve teams with an animated project in development and two career-oriented participants.

Out of 12 projects there are 5 short animated films, 3 animated series and 4 animated feature films. Among the participating professionals, we are counting 11 female producers, 5 male producers, 2 female directors, 3 male directors, 4 female scriptwriters, 5 female directors-scriptwriters and 2 male directors-scriptwriters. A diverse group of participants will be addressing a diverse set of topics in their animated projects during a year-long training programme led by acclaimed industry professionals.

Once again we are excited to start the new year of the CEE Animation Workshop. The selection was tough as the number and quality of submissions is rising every year. We are looking forward to start the first module on-site in Ljubljana and in addition to diverse and strong projects and their creative teams. We are also very happy to welcome new producer group leaders, Tonje Skar Reiersen and Corinne Destombes.

Saša Bach, Managing Director

The CEE Animation Workshop is entering its fifth edition by building on great experiences and strong foundations from the last four years of very successful trainings, while also introducing some fresh features. Established producers Tonje Skar Reiersen (Mikrofilm, Norway) and Corinne Destombes (Folimage, France) are joining the team as main group leaders, while script consultors and the well-known CEE Animation Workshop collaborators, Phil Parker (United Kingdom) and Rita Domonyi (Hungary) are returning.

The workshop will consist of 4 modules, balancing the online and on-site modules, with 2 on-site weeks in 2023. The first module will be taking place in Ljubljana, between 27 February and 4 March 2023.

Through expert lectures, moderated discussions, group work and individual consultations, the participants will gain valuable feedback and a chance to expand their knowledge of the animation industry. In addition to following the complete Workshop program, the two career-oriented participants will also receive personalised mentoring on their career and company strategy development. The programme tailored to the needs of animation creatives will see the selected projects from their early stages to the final developed production package, ready to access the market.

CEE Animation Workshop is organised with the support of Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme of the European Union.
