Oscar®-winner Wiliam Joyce to direct upcoming animated feature ‘The Extincts’

// News

The recently-launched Cirrina Studios has this week announced its first animated feature film, adapted from British author Veronica Cossanteli’s popular book The Extincts.

The animated feature adaptation is to be directed by acclaimed author/illustrator and Oscar®-winner (The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore) William “Bill” Joyce and produced by David Lipman (Shrek 2), who also adapted the novel for the big screen, along with Michael Siegel (The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Rise of the Guardians).

SYNOPSIS: The Extincts follows the madcap adventures of George Drake, a boy who goes to work on a farm hidden deep in the woods where he discovers a hidden cache of extinct and mythological creatures, one of which escapes and terrorizes the town in which he lives.

Jane Startz, Barry Cunningham, Jim Pesoli and Karine Martin will serve as executive producers with pre-production beginning next month at Montpellier, France’s Dwarf Animation Studio.

Feature animation is one of the cornerstones of Cirrina Studios’ broad ambitions. I’m thrilled to partner with Olivier and Dwarf, we’ve assembled an unbelievably talented group of artists and technicians to make a ‘studio quality’ film with a unique look and global appeal.

-David Lipman (President of Production, Cirrina Studios)

The Extincts is planned to be released in 2019
